PROVEN TECHNOLOGY
Adjustable Speed Drives
Low cost and proven design. More than 1,000,000 sold.
It all began in 1949, when Minnesota inventor Sterling Stageberg designed a unique mechanical variable speed transmission drive. Stageberg’s design varied the output speed from a constant input from ZERO to MAXimum. It became an instant success
The overall principle behind adjustable speed drives provides infinitely variable and adjustable speed by successfully changing the distance from the control arm to at least 4 discs that rotate the output shaft as they move back and forth.
Designed to deliver constant torque at any speed, these drives provide precise control in a compact and robust design.
✅ Infinitely variable speed - 0 to 400 RPM at 1800 RPM input
✅ Delivers constant torque - up to 200 in-lbs depending on model
✅ Easy adjustment - via handwheel or lever
✅ Many sizes and configurations - including gearhead and motor integration
✅ Ideal for applications in automation, machine building, dosing and feeding systems
Unidirectional Speed Drive - Simple and Effective Speed Control
Our one-way models offer operation in one direction and are available in several series (E, JK, Y, QX and ZX). They are perfect for applications where the speed is adjusted and then kept constant.
✅ Torque up to 200 in-lbs
✅ Easy installation and long lifespan
✅ Choose from multiple shaft formats and control types
Bidirectional Speed Drive - Precise Control in Both Directions
Do you need back and forth operation? Then the bi-directional models are your solution. The E3, JK3 and Y3 models allow you to smoothly change speed from 400 to 0 and back again.
✅ Ideal for machines with tension control, material handling or cyclical movements (e.g. with dancer arms)
✅ Precise speed control with no slip
✅ Reversible output direction option
Speed Drive Accessories - Expand and Customise Your Solutions
Customise your speed drives with C-face adapters (CFY, CFQ, CFZ) for flexible motor integration - or expand with additional control options and gears.
✅ C-Face adapters for quick motor integration
✅ Additional gear ratios (W1-W4)
✅ Screw, microdial and other control types
Customised Solutions - Customised Precision for Your Application
We have developed specialised drives for e.g. seeders and feeders - with over 15,000 units in operation. Do you have a challenge that requires something special? We're ready to help.
✅ Proven technology - reliable and virtually maintenance-free
✅ Designed for demanding environments
✅ Customised solution based on your process

BENEFITS
Adjustable Speed Drives
Adjustable speed drive settings are easily done by moving a control arm through an arc or our right-angle gearbox. Some Speed-Max drives can be purchased with standard electric motors or they can be connected to any rotating shaft source up to 2000 RPM.
For lower speed/higher torque applications, some Zero-Max drives are available with our right-angle gearbox. Some Zero-Max drives can be purchased with standard electric motors, they can be connected to any rotating force up to 2000 RPM.
On the outside, the adjustable drive consists of a robust closed box, an input shaft, output shaft and adjustable speed control. Output revolutions are precisely and easily regulated through a control rod, which involves a convenient locking mechanism or a screw control to keep the speed at an appropriate level.
Adjustable speed drives are available with both clockwise and anti-clockwise inputs to meet individual needs for speed control. Two models are equipped with a special lever that allows clockwise, anti-clockwise and neutral operation.
Allows slow, fast, small or large changes in rpm. Adjustments are made quickly and easily. Zero-Max drives deliver the control and precision you need and can be used in all applications.
